Alghochak is dedicated to fostering a vibrant Afghan community in Belfast. Through various cultural and educational programs, we aim to support Afghan families and individuals in their integration and well-being.

Our name comes from the Dari word for stepping stones — the small but important steps people take whilst rebuilding their lives, finding belonging, and moving forward together.
Just as stepping stones help someone cross a difficult path safely, Alghochak is here to support Afghan families and individuals through connection, culture, and opportunity — one step at a time.
Our Services: Tailor-Made Services for Every Need
We run a range of activities designed to keep younger members of our community engaged, connected to their culture, and having fun — including singing lessons and Pashto and Farsi language classes.
Our young people's programme is built around adventure, confidence, and friendship — with activities including hiking, escape rooms, and residential trips run every two weeks at Belfast Activity Centre.
A warm and welcoming programme bringing women together through creative & social activities — including handcraft, jewellery making, baking, swimming with a qualified instructor, and regular community gatherings.
Activities and programmes designed to support the whole family and bring men together — including Life in the UK courses, family trips, residential outings, information sessions, and community gatherings.
